Don't Censor Your Dreams

Are you a dreamer?
Are you a believer in your dreams?
Are you a dream censor?

Abandon the censor mindset, especially when it comes to your dreams.
  -Dreams don’t need censors.
  -Dreams need exercise.
-They need freedom to go and explore.
-Dreams need expressing and breathing in the early days.

And you, especially you – don’t censor your dreams!  Free your dream-making mechanism.  Let it float freely.

You never know where a dream will lead you.

Just hold tightly to the kite-string of your dream and watch it soar.

Some fine day you’ll be ready to reel it in and make something of it.

Until then … let it fly.

What Am I Even If I Fail

Carolyn and I listened to a Brene Brown podcast this morning.  I was reminded once again of her great line:

What’s worth doing even if I fail?
~Brene Brown
Daring Greatly

What are you even if you fail?

And the answer is this – You are very brave.  You just dared greatly.

You are not less than you were before.
You showed great bravery and courage.

You Dared Greatly!

Now, next time, you’ll know some things that didn't work and you can avoid those next time around.

Thank you for your bravery.

Explore

Let’s explore some uncharted territory - SELF”.

Consider these questions as guides on your journey.

-What am I good at?
-If I could do anything in the world, what?
-Where is my ideal place to live?

-What is my personality type?
-To whom am I attracted and why?
-What kind of person rubs me wrong and why?

-What kind of discipline did my parents use?
-How has that discipline positively or negatively affected me?
-What kind of leisure reading do I enjoy?

-Am I a leader or follower?
-Am I creative?
-Am I a hands-on learner?
-Am I an auditory learner?

Love this quote:

“When you’re lying on your deathbed, one of the really cool things to say is, “I really explored myself.”
~Carol S. Dweck, Ph.D.

Yes or No

The answer is easy.  Just “Yes” or “No”.

“No” is the easier of the two.
      No risk.
         No pain.
            No sticking your neck out.

But “Yes”!

What are the possibilities behind a yes?

 Marriage
  Partnership
   Success
    Excitement
     Man landing on the moon
      Man exploring Mars
The computer, smart phones, iPads, et al

The possibilities are endless with “Yes”.

The possibilities end with “no”.

I think I’m a “YES” man.

Some Powerful Words

Here are six powerful lines from a poem/song for our focus today.  Are you in love, want to be in love, married, in a relationship, have a good friend, want to be good friend?  These words model the essence of relationship foundation.

If you’re a ship and you are lost in the ocean,
I'll be the wind in your sails to give you motion,w
I will guide you home.

If you are too far out that you can't see the shoreline,
I'll be the lighthouse shining in the night time.
I will guide you home.-
~Remedy Drive

That is friendship and love at its finest.  A worthy model for all of us.  Be well today.

What Can One Do in a Minute

What can you do in a minute?

-Lick a stamp
-Write a post-it-note
-Drink a glass of water

-Check an email
-Appreciate a bird in flight
-Enjoy the sun beaming down on you
-Say ‘I Love You’

There are a few thousand other small ideas we could list here and they all would be wonderfully acceptable.

This blog is called The ‘Almost a Minute’ Blog.  I don’t expect to solve the great riddles of life in this space, but I do aim to give each of us some little thought of an idea that might lead to other, bigger ideas.

If so, then I have accomplished what I aimed to accomplish.

What are you doing with your collective minutes?

Class dismissed.

What Verses Who

I know a lot of stuff.  I've had six or eight different careers and have lived in seven different states.  My varied experiences and the books I've read have given me a vast amount of general knowledge.  I don’t know everything, but I do know a lot.

That is all well and good, but who I am matters a lot more.

Who am I?
An honest individual
A dependable citizen
A trustworthy man
A loving and caring husband
A good friend to some

Always remember this one:

Four Thoughts

-Live Simply
Life is not a race to accumulate stuff.  We should “suck the marrow out of every moment” to paraphrase a Robin Williams quote in Dead Poets Society.

~Love Generously
Without agenda, with abandon, with unconditional energy

~Care Deeply
If you say the words, mean the words.  Do random acts that speak care, not just the words.

~Speak Kindly
Words have tremendous power.  We build up with kind words.  We encourage and inspire with kind words.

Thanks for reading.

Now, would you kindly share this with someone? Thanks so much.
