Forgiveness Is a Skill

What an important thought … Forgiveness is a skill.

It’s a muscle that needs exercise.  It needs to be used time and again in this old world. 

Who doesn’t need forgiveness?  Everybody needs it.  I’ve yet to meet the perfect one person. 

Forgiveness incorporates humbleness and grace. 

It is the one act that has great restorative powers. 

May you forgive others and be forgiven of your faults.

The Apology We Never Get

 

Life 101:

We live.

We interact.

We develop friendships and relationships.

Things go wrong and we are owed an apology.

What if that apology never comes?  What if that person who is in your debt dies before the words come from their mouth of contrition, regret and asking for forgiveness?

We learn to forgive in the absence of an official apology. 

We make peace in the void of no words to sooth the offense.

Life is way too short to do otherwise.

When Memories Get in the Way

This is one of those posts in which the title tells the whole story.  Really.

But for those of us who need a bit more reminding, here goes.

I remember …

Failing once. Am I a constant failure?

Getting sick on avocados.  Can I ever eat avocados again?

I almost got my dream job once.  Dare I dream again?

I liked her but she didn’t like me.  Will anyone find me attractive?

I forgot, again, to do that thing I was supposed to do.  Will I ever get it right?

Just because you have “always” done bad doesn’t mean you always will do bad. 

Memories can be redeemed.  Good can come from bad.
