Hope Is the Beginning
Hope Is the Beginning
Got hope? I hope so.
Hope is the beginning of every enterprise in the world. Somebody saw a need and then set about filling that need. They had hopes of making a difference in this world.
So … I ask again. Got hope?
We’re living in hard times. And yet, I have a hope for brighter days ahead, more reasonable days, more sensible days.
For now, I’m turning that hope into prayers, and writing what I can, when I can, words of hope, encouragement and inspiration.
Exercise your hope.
Something to think on,

Lessons from a Dropped Ball
Lessons from a Dropped Ball
There is something to be learned even in a dropped ball. Baseball is all about what you do with the ball, and that includes catching, hitting, snagging and throwing it. We don’t usually think of a dropped ball as a lesson opportunity.
However …
Perhaps, it teaches something about the coach, the leader, the teacher as much as about the player. Baseball coaches don’t go into coaching Little League expecting every player to be perfect, make every catch and hit a homerun every time.
They know losses, dropped balls and missed swings are part of the process. It’s all a learning curve. You teach the how’s and why’s of the game.
And you let the player who fumbled back on the field to try and try again.
It’s a process … catches and fumbles, dropped balls and strikeouts.
Something to think on,
in about 60 seconds.

ONE Can Win the Battle
ONE
Can Win the Battle
One
hug can reassure.
One
smile can calm and encourage.
One
act of kindness can restore faith in mankind.
One
word can set in motion change.
One
person can make a difference.
Do
you have ONE inside of you today?

The Other Side of the "Bad Side" of Life
The
Other Side of the
“Bad Side” of Life
I’ve
had experiences that I just wished would never happen.
Open
heart surgery for one. That was no
picnic.
Bankruptcy
– ugh
There
have been other experiences too. You
know those also.
They
represent what I call the “Bad Side” of life.
It’s stuff we never studied for.
Those experiences weren’t on the test for the rest of my life at age 17.
And yet, they happened.
And
here I sit. Having gone through all that
stuff, and I’m alive. You too, if you’ve
endured life.
We
are alive!
Perhaps
today is a good day to celebrate the life we live. The good, the bad, the ugly, the unnecessary,
the unexpected.
I
suppose it just goes to show us that we are amazing and resilient individuals.
That’s
about the best news I could plant in your mind today. Come what may, I think we may just find a
solution, or a new route, or an answer from unexpected sources, or an inner reservoir
of capabilities we never knew we had.
I
celebrate you, today, you amazing overcomer.

To Touch a Heart
To
Touch a Heart
My
heart surgeon, Dr. Sam, came to see me three days after open-heart
surgery. He said, “Thanks for letting me
touch your heart.”
What
a great line.
~Sometimes,
I’ve touched a heart with my singing and writing.
~My
friend sent me a very touching hand-written note in the mail. It touched my heart.
~When
I listen to Moonlight Sonata, my
heart is touched.
~My
friend, Ronn Huff, touched my heart with just about everything he wrote and
arranged in the 70’s and 80’s.
~Numerous
books on my reading list have touched my heart recently.
I
think today is a dandy day to go out and touch someone’s heart.
A
smile will do it,
as
will a kind word,
an
assuring hand on one’s shoulder,
a
cheerie phone call,
An
afterthought. It’s a snowy day in
Seattle. We are blanketed with this
white stuff. I left home at 6AM to drive
24 miles to my work today. My co-worker
for the day just texted me – knowing I arrived here 1 ½ hours early. She said, “You are amazing. Thank you.”
It’s
a good thing to touch a heart.
Something to
think on,
