A Few Rays of Light

A Few Rays of Light

I’m sitting in a restaurant just now.  I’m feeling the rays of a brilliant Seattle sun off to my right .  My goodness, how refreshing those rays are.

And that springs me into my thought.

Rays of light come in dozens of ways.  An encouraging email, a personal hand-written note from a friend far away, a well-timed phone call.

Even a cheery smile and a friendly greeting are rays of light.

That’s my goal today – to spread rays of light to several someone’s today.

Help me!

One Who Takes Time

One Who Takes Time

I’ve been privileged to meet a few celebrities in my lifetime.  I won’t name names, lest you think I’m trying to impress you.

Most of the time, these celebrated individuals have brushed me off, or only half listened as I sang their praises.  They get pulled in so many directions, and their ‘public’ demands so much from them, and I get that.

However, I’m thinking of one celebrity who always listens, always focuses on you and what you need moment by moment.  He’s the one who’s birth we celebrate in twelve days.  That baby in a manger, grown-up to be our Savior and friend, always listens.  He always has time.  And he cares about what you care about, and is into each of your conversations.

Just remember that as you go about your holiday festivities.

Joy to the world, the Lord is come.

He came last year, centuries ago, last week, and HE is still present both in our world and in every moment of our lives.

Merry Christmas.

People Everywhere

People Everywhere

At the moment, I’m in a favorite little-known coffee place in Seattle.  There are nine people in here.  Nine individuals of whom I know nothing about.  I don’t know their names, where they live, what their shoe size is, or even if they use deodorant or not.

But this I do know about each of them.  They want to be cherished.  They want validation.  They want to be thought well of and they seek some measure of love.

We all share that.

These elements reduce us all down to being simple human beings, trudging along on this sphere called earth.  Our bank accounts don’t matter.  Our jobs and business cards are not important for this moment in time.

We just want a good cup of coffee or whatever, perhaps a kind conversation, as I can hear is happening, and we want a peaceful life, at least for these few minutes.

Remember that today as you rub elbows with someone else.  They are people too.
