A Few Rays of Light

A Few Rays of Light

I’m sitting in a restaurant just now.  I’m feeling the rays of a brilliant Seattle sun off to my right .  My goodness, how refreshing those rays are.

And that springs me into my thought.

Rays of light come in dozens of ways.  An encouraging email, a personal hand-written note from a friend far away, a well-timed phone call.

Even a cheery smile and a friendly greeting are rays of light.

That’s my goal today – to spread rays of light to several someone’s today.

Help me!

A Stable Influence

A Stable Influence

It appears to me we need a stable influence this Christmas.  Things are kind of rocky with our politics.  The economy is up one day and down the next.  Can we trust the media or not?  Where is hope?  We’ve got enough despair.

We need a stable influence.

Here’s the thing.

A stable influence means …
~Joy to the whole world.  Not just to a selective band, but for all mankind.
~Peace that passes any man’s or woman’s understanding.  Peace that calms and sooths.
~A Kingdom whose end will never come to be.
~A place where the impossible becomes possible.

If you are smart, as all my readers are, then you are already reading between the lines and words to capture the meaning here.

We need the redeeming qualities of the star of the Christmas story.

We need hope for these desperate times.
We need joy in our busy, and sometimes disturbed lives.
We need peace in all our lands.

And most of all …

We need love – brotherly, neighborly, Godly love.

Yes indeed.  We need a stable influence about now.

Reading Together at Chrismas

Reading Together at Christmas

CB and I love to read to each other at Christmas time.  Besides our devotional book by Bonhoeffer, we are reading from another book we just bought.  It is full of great Christmas stories and poems.

Currently, we’re reading a lesser-known Louisa May Alcott story for Christmas.

Our past Christmas readings have included:  The Worst Best Christmas Pageant Every, Christmas books by Richard Paul Evans, David Baldacci, Debbie Macomber, and too many others to remember.

Just one more way to make our Christmas full and rich.
