Giving Her Best

Giving Her Best

I just finished my breakfast at IHOP in Bellevue.  My waitress is probably one of the best I’ve ever had to serve me.  She is a small woman, around 50, and she executes her job in such a no nonsense way.  She’s observant, attentive, and fast.  She knows her regulars, calls them by name, and greets everyone who comes in.

She enjoys her job, and it shows.

I don’t know her name yet, but when I get my ticket, I’ll find out and I’m writing a letter to IHOP headquarters on her behalf.  And I’ll tip a nice tip.

I like to recognize great work, and she is great at her work.

Now, for all of us, go and do likewise.

What Are You Getting

What Are You Getting?

Carolyn and I went to Costco on Sunday, only to look around.  We had no list, no agenda, and no specific wants.  We came out with $181 worth of stuff.

We got a lot of “wants”.  Oh, some useful stuff, but none of it life-saving stuff.

Next time I go, I may check out the
‘Understanding’ aisle.  I want to understand life better, myself better.

If only Costco sold understanding.  I’m sure it would come in the big box size.

And would many buy it?

What's Possible?

What’s Possible?

We bump up against impossible all day long.
We’re told there are limits.  We Can’t.  Don’t.  You Shouldn’t.

What if Roger Banister had listened to that advice?  He was the first man to break the four-minute mile?

And the Wright brothers?  They learned to fly.

What is looming large on your impossible scope these days?

Maybe … perhaps … it is time to venture past that impossible something.

Something to think on,
