A Tuba Is Just a Tuba ... Unless

A Tuba Is Just a Tuba Unless …

A tuba is nice, but I don’t want to go to a
concert just to hear a bunch of tuba solos.  I’d rather eat spinach, and I hate spinach.

Ah … but add in a few trombones, a bit of timpani, a couple of trumpets and some clarinets and now we have something.  Melody, harmony, rhythm … we have music.

You may, at times, feel like a tuba – all alone, nobody wants you, nobody needs you, nobody likes your sound, your voice, your ideas, your style or your looks.  Maybe you're large and gangly, like a tuba.

Now, when we add color and variety, all of a sudden, the tuba becomes likeable, enjoyable and definitely contributive.

What or with whom can you partner to be more than a tuba?

There is great value in sharing the journey.

Something to think on, in less than one minute.

The Sixth Three Things

There are three qualities that go into shaping and making a person of substance.  These three qualities also happen to be some of the most hirable and desirable skills employers seek.

Three things that make a person
     Commitment
          Sincerity
               Hard work

Commitment
Commitment is the guarantee presented by an individual and it simply states this: “I will see this endeavor to the end.  I will show up, I will put forth effort of mind and body and I will work to ensure success.

Some great synonyms are: pledge, vow, obligation, assurance, guarantee, duty, responsibility

Sincerity
Earnestness – authenticity- candor – honesty

These are the qualities we seek in a sincere person.  I would rather work with and for a sincere person than one who says pleasing words only to get a foot in the door.

Sincerity is a good indicator of an authentic person – no pretense – no flattery.  In sincerity, lies and deceit cannot hide.

Hard Work
What more can I say than what is already said in these pictures.

Hard Work IS …

Occasionally jobs fall into place and blogs write themselves. Usually, however, work and blogs and anything else we put out hands to require the actual digging out process.  This particular post is an example of that.  Short though it is, I had to do a bit of digging and mulling.

I love this picture of the ant rolling a larger-than-life ball up the hill.  Yes, the ball is larger than he, yes, it is uphill, and yes, it is hard work, and he is making it to the top.  That is hard work.

Charge!

Decorations

We now move full speed into the Christmas season.  We already see the sights of Christmas with a few decorations already on display at some of our nearby neighbors and our lovely town is already lit up and is a picture of loveliness.

So, what decorates your life and my life?

Sometimes it is a ring of value, or a watch.
Some decorate their lives with automobiles and boats.

This is not a how-to post.  It is simply a thought that might, perhaps cause us to simply ponder the decorations in our lives.

Decorations come in all sizes, colors, shapes and dimensions.
They include:
 A diploma
  A job
A name brand suit of clothes or jewelry
Dating or being married to the right person
Aligning with the ‘right’ religion or dogma

I love to decorate the space around me with books and a great music library.

Decorations can be good or bad.  It is what we gain from having that particular decoration in our lives and how we interact with it, and allow its influence to affect us.

Mostly, I hope your decorations add value to what you do, how you do what you do, and it brings you occasional moments of joy and peace.

Run from It-Learn from It

Everyone has a past.  Regardless of what it is, no matter how large it looms, we make a conscious decision to deal with it.  And it is in the ‘dealing with it’ that we are addressing today.

How?

This simple quote from The Lion King says it well.

Lessons learned about our failures are important lessons.  Let us not miss the opportunities to learn from our past.

Run from it-Learn from It

Everyone has a past.  Whatever it is and however large it looms, we make a conscious decision to deal with it.

This simple quote from The Lion King says it well.

"Oh yes, the past can hurt.
But the way I see it you can either
run from it, or learn from it."
– Rafiki, from The Lion King

Lessons learned about our failures are important lessons.  Don’t miss the opportunity to learn from what is past.
