Do You Need a Fortune Teller?

Do You Need a Fortune Teller?

I don’t need a fortune teller.  There, I’ve said it out loud.

I don’t have a lucky rabbit’s foot.
I don’t have a lucky sweater.
I don’t go up to red-headed people and rub their hair.

I don’t spend money on fortune tellers.

I DO conduct my life according to some principles I’ve established over my years of living.  I believe I have a good brain in my head that still can function, and think, and reason.

I have two ears with which to hear in this world.  I hear nuances, inflections, pitch, timber, confidence or lack thereof.  I hear very well.

I have two eyes with which to see.  I observe.

Why would I want to give my will, my future, or certain decisions of my life over to some fable, some fantasy, some gimmick, and someone else who is in touch with the “spirit world”?

For as long as I am able, I shall make my own decisions, hold my own counsel, and follow my own sense of rightness for my life and these times.

I will continue to read and use my filters as to what is true and just.

I don’t need a fortune teller!

Are You Afraid of Your Own Thoughts?

Are You Afraid of
Your Own Thoughts?

According to Huff Post, each person on this planet has between 50,000-70,000 thoughts per day.  That’s 35-48 thoughts per minute per person.

And how do you feel about your own thoughts?  Do they scare you?

Perhaps they do.  Perhaps not.

This I know … thoughts can’t be totally corralled, but they can be tamed somewhat.

It seems many people are just flat-out afraid of their thoughts, so therefore, they will have some kind of constant chatter flowing in their space at all times.

As for me … I’ll take a quiet few minutes any time I can get it.  Like now.  It’s 6ish.  I’m in one of my writing spaces here at home.  Very little traffic is flowing at the moment.  And this is a simple slice of heaven to me.

What a gift!

Turning Off the Critical Voice

Turning Off the Critical Voice

We hear the critic often.  We hear it when we don’t want to hear it.  It’s in our head.  It seems to always be with us.

And that voice can be silenced.  It takes some re-framing, some re-conditioning and it can be done.

Ever heard of affirmations?

I CAN do this.
I WILL rise again.
I AM a worthwhile person.
I CAN see better ways of dealing with things.

These are just a few of the many mind conditioners we could adapt.  There are some fine books at your local store or library that can help as well.

Stop the critic within.  Find your supportive voice within.
