Stillness Within

Stillness Within

Are you finding the stillness within?  Can you sit, alone, for twenty minutes, music or not, your choice, and find a center of calm?

Carolyn and I are learning that art.  At the moment, we are listening to a favorite jazz pianist.  I’m writing, she is relaxing next to me.  I would say we are experiencing a stillness within.

One of my favorite places is to park along Sunset in the middle of the day and watch.  I watch the seagulls, the people, the Puget Sound, and I find my stillness.

Kind of important.

Happy Place

Happy Place

I’m in my happy place.  It’s a rainy Saturday morning, 9AM, I have the condo to myself, some light jazz is playing on Spotify through my Echo Dot (from Amazon).  And I’m writing.

I see an occasional duck land and take off on a very small creek just to my right called Willow Creek.  They are a magical and majestic creation.

Wow!  I love moments like this.  And I’m happy.

Are you happy?  Do you have a happy place to which you go on occasion?

I highly recommend that you do.  I’m not a soaking-tub kind of guy.  I’m not much of a wine drinker.  So, I don’t seek my happy place there.  But this … this is just about perfect.  Even the rain is pleasant.

This moment is brought to you by Up-Words – Hope, Encouragement and Inspiration.

And me!

Oasis

Oasis

I believe in Oasis moments.

If we break down the word, we find this:
     Refuge
     Haven
     Sanctuary
     Escape

Lately, I have found my Oasis spot.  It is along
Sunset here in Edmonds, Washington where I live.  I have gone there often in the last few days just to sit and look at the water,
watch the birds and the joggers and walkers.

Nothing much on my mind, just a peaceful couple of hours.  Four days ago, I even took a 45-minute nap while at my Oasis.

Ideas haven’t, so far, come to me during my Oasis moments, but they seem to flood my mind when I return to my desk for a writing session

I believe in Oasis.
