In
New York Harbor stands a lady – Lady Liberty – the Statue of Liberty.
On
the west coast – at a yet unknown
location, will stand the Statue of
Responsibility. How fitting it will be
to have these two bookend monuments.
For
what is liberty without responsibility?
Victor
Frankl first promoted this idea of a Statue of Responsibility in his book Man’s Search for Meaning. He was a
Holocaust survivor. And a man I much admire and follow on
Facebook is the creator of this Statue of Responsibility – Gary Lee Price.
The
picture says it clearly – one hand reaching down to lift another fellow human
being.
John
Kennedy captured this so very well:
Can
we have liberty without responsibility?
