Where Good Ideas Come From

 I’m speaking from experience here, and Seth Godin has helped me too. 

Time and again I’ve turned to the trusty legal pad when in an idea-generating mode.  I open my mind and start searching for that one golden nugget that I know sooner or later will come through, and I write down every idea – every one.

When trying to name my imprint - Up-Words – I generated over a hundred words and word combinations.   In less than an hour I had my name.  Remember though, I had to wade through a lot of junk and a lot of bad ideas.

And then knowing when you’ve got it – that is instinct.

Surprise Yourself

You and I hold the controlling key.  We get to make choices this year.  What will those choices lead to?

I hope they lead to a few surprises.  I hope you go out and outdo yourself in a few areas. 

I really hope your surprise yourself.

My friend is a banker.  He surprised himself in 2016 by landing on the top of the heap in his bank as the No. 1 top banker in lending with over 17 million dollars in loans.  That is amazing!

I am a writer and speaker.  I hope I surprise myself this year with some excellent, never-before-considered ideas that I can bring to light for others as a growth moment.
