Kind Words

Kind Words

Let’s focus on speaking kind words for just a minute.  I remember countless words of esteem and good will that have been spoken into my life from days gone by.

“You touched me.”
“Of all the good influences in my life, you were the first.”
“Thank you for your words today.  I needed that.”

Oh, I’ve also had harsh words spoken, and I try to forget those when possible.  Ah, but the kind words.

The thing is this … kind words can be short, easy to say, easy to hear.  And best of all – they echo again and again in the hearts and minds of the recipient.

I say … speak words of kindness every chance you get.  We need them.

Oasis

Oasis

I believe in Oasis moments.

If we break down the word, we find this:
     Refuge
     Haven
     Sanctuary
     Escape

Lately, I have found my Oasis spot.  It is along
Sunset here in Edmonds, Washington where I live.  I have gone there often in the last few days just to sit and look at the water,
watch the birds and the joggers and walkers.

Nothing much on my mind, just a peaceful couple of hours.  Four days ago, I even took a 45-minute nap while at my Oasis.

Ideas haven’t, so far, come to me during my Oasis moments, but they seem to flood my mind when I return to my desk for a writing session

I believe in Oasis.

When We Strike Out

When We Strike Out

Baseball great Babe Ruth was once asked
what he thought about after striking out.  “I think about hitting home runs” he answered.

Oh, we’re going to occasionally strike out.  And we get to choose our next thoughts and actions, don’t we?

I will never forget the day I learned of my ending marriage a bunch of years ago.  I sat on that orange sofa and swore this would never happen to me again.  I made a commitment right then and there that I would learn from this experience and next time, and there would be a next time, I would make it better.

It’s an attitude kind of thing.
