What's Being Thrown at You

  1. 32 Seconds

Every man and woman alive, at one time or another, has had “stuff” thrown at him/her.  You can’t escape that.

People will …
Dis on you
Talk about you
Spread bad rumors about you
Tell lies about you
Do you wrong

Note this:

“A successful man is one who can lay a firm foundation with the bricks others have thrown at him.”
~David Brinkley, Television Journalist

Your Sphere

How big is your sphere?  Your sphere is the space around you full of individuals you influence with your life.  We carry our sphere with us wherever we go.  When you positively impress your sphere, you increase your chances of positively affecting the sphere of others, for we like to talk about good experiences.

Love this thought:

Every single individual is the hub
of his or her own sphere of influence
and that sphere’s potential is immense.

A Few Words on Competency

We admire competency.  We cherish it.  We seek it in others.

Do we demonstrate it in ourselves?

Maybe this will help.

How to Show Competency
-Show up every time you say you will.  Competent people are responsible.  They are prepared, they are on time, and they play hard.

-Competent people improve and keep improving.  They are ever the learner.  Competent people read and find ways to better themselves and their industry.

-Competent people follow through with superior work.  Quality is no accident.  It is always because of intention.

-Competent people do more than they are paid to do.  That is an old Napoleon Hill axiom.

-Competent people inspire other.  They breathe into others, inflate them and lift them up.

Thoughts on Listening

42 sec

Do you listen?  Can you hear?  These are not rhetorical questions.  They matter in all of our relationships.  Let’s consider some key points.

John Maxwell says:

“Leaders touch a heart before they ask for a hand.”

We listen for two reasons:
1.     To connect with others
2.    To learn from others

It’s an old saying and it is still true:

“People don’t care how much you know
until they know how much you care.”

Love what Larry King once said:

“I remind myself every morning:  nothing I say this day will teach me anything.  So if I’m going to learn, I must do it by listening.”

The Great Discovery

18 seconds

Please remain standing – this will be brief.

I quote from William James – Psychologist

“The greatest discovery of my generation is that human beings can alter their lives by altering their minds.”

~In other words … change your mind, change your life.

~Our thoughts are what make us.

~We become what we think about.

Enough said.  Now, back to your regularly schedule life.
