When You Spill Your Coffee

When You Spilled Your Coffee

(We have a guest contributor today.  I’ve been following Danny McDonald on Facebook for a while now and he always write clever one-liners.  Today, he wrote a very pertinent piece and gave me permission to re-post it.  Enjoy!)

You're holding a cup of coffee when someone comes along and bumps into you or shakes your arm, making you spill your coffee everywhere.

Why did you spill the coffee?

"Because someone bumped into me!!!"

Wrong answer.
You spilled the coffee because there was coffee in your cup.
Had there been tea in the cup, you would have spilled tea.

News Flash: Whatever's inside the cup is what will spill out.
Therefore, when life comes along and shakes you (which WILL happen), whatever's inside you will come out. It's easy to fake it, until you get rattled.

So today I ask this simple question:. "What's in your cup?"
When life gets tough, what spills over? Joy, gratefulness, peace and humility ... or ... anger, bitterness, harsh words and reactions?
Life provides the cup, YOU choose how to fill it.

Today let's work towards filling our cups with gratitude, forgiveness, joy, words of affirmation; and kindness, gentleness and love for others.

Just a thought. You may resume your lives now.
That is all.

Keep Throwing Darts

Keep Throwing Darts

How does a person ever learn and master any skill?

Well, you keep throwing darts at the dart board.  You keep trying.  You never quit, if your goal is mastery and accomplishment.

I’m not an accomplished vibraphonist today because I quit throwing darts.  I stopped practicing. I still love the sound of a good vibe player, but I’m not one.

I am still throwing darts at the writing life.  I’ve not reached my end yet, nor have I run out of ideas.

Get the picture?

Keep at it, whatever IT is.

That is all.

A Good Word about Vision

A Good Word about Vision

When I first started writing, I fretted that some day I may run out of ideas.  And then what?

The truth is, with each post, I go back to my “well” of ideas and sooner than soon another one pops up and off my fingers go, writing away.

Thomas Carlyle gave me the idea for this post.

What you can see today is small compared to what you’ll see in a month, year, ten years.  The idea is to keep moving, keep climbing, keep working at your craft.
