Be the Reason

Be the Reason

We have the amazing opportunity to either build up or tear down one’s hopes and dreams.  I’m choosing to be the reason someone holds onto hope.

People need to feel seen.  Let’s give them that opportunity.  We don’t ignore.  We don’t step over.  We don’t bypass.

We listen.

We can be the solution every day to someone who crosses our path.

We just have to choose to be!

Thinking Can Bring Change

Thinking Can Bring Change

Thinking Can Bring Change

And the change starts with a change of one’s mind first.  You know the drill.  You hold an opinion.  You are comfortable with that thought.  Along comes new information, a different slant, a challenge to your cherished ideas.

And whether you change or not, it comes forth because of “thinking”.

Sometimes we need a thinking space, a place we go to where we can do the hard work of reckoning our thoughts with what is true and right for the moment.

Thinking demands an environment in which you can try out a variety of ideas, with no judgement on any except your own.  Thinking, I think, means you have to have to some bad ideas to stand beside the good ones.

I’ve done my thinking in my office, along Sunset Drive, at the beach in Kona, in libraries, in coffee shops and in noisy tire stores.

The main point is this … you own your thoughts.  Use your power of choice wisely.

Pay Attention to What You Pay Attention To

Pay Attention to What
You Pay Attention To

What a novel idea … pay attention to what you pay attention to.  That one idea is what helped launch my writing life, and a few other interests in my life.

Pay attention.  It’s said in a hundred classrooms on a daily basis, I suppose.  And well it should be said.

It’s more than just noting a thing.  Paying attention is looking deeper than the surface demands.  We peer into a thing, as it were.  And this includes our lives.

We don’t just offer a passing glance at a thing of interest.  We stop, analyze, ask the “why” and “what if” and we dig down a bit or a lot.

There is so much to grab our attention these days.  This post is a reminder to slow down.  Ponder, look beyond the surface, and bring to our attention more than just what caught out attention in the first place.
