At
a particularly dull academic meeting a fellow guest remarked sympathetically to
Albert Einstein, "I am afraid you are terribly bored, Professor Einstein.”
“Oh
no,” replied Einstein, pleasantly. “On
occasions like this I retire to the back of my mind, and there I am happy.”
I
have a back room in my mind too. If I’m
in a meeting, like Einstein, I go there and think about my writing, and ideas,
and what I might do to encourage others.
