The
Power of Instinct
Malcolm
Gladwell wrote an excellent book a few years ago – Blink – The Power of Thinking
without Thinking. It has to do with
instinct – feelings – about things and people.
I
believe in instinct. I trust my own
instincts. The “fight or flight’
instinct is one that has been written into our lives from the beginning of
time. Knowing when to stand your ground,
and knowing when the fight is bigger than you and survival means leaving to
fight another day.
We
teach children instinct from day one. We
say “no, no” when they attempt to put something dangerous in their mouth or
reach for an item that could be dangerous.
We have to teach them instinct in that regard.
We
use instinct in relating to other human beings.
It’s the old rule of “in 30 seconds or less” we determine a lot about a
new person we meet.
Do
we like them?
Do
we trust them?
Will
we give them our money or time?
Keep
developing good instincts and learn to trust them.
Something to
think on,
in less than
one minute.
