What Goes on in Your Mind?

What Goes on in Your Mind?

There are certain dominant thoughts that every one of us hold.  Let us consider that for a moment.

What goes on in the mind of …

A doctor – healing the sick
A writer – making sense and affecting people
A mother – love and care for her brood
A musician – pitch, rhythm, wow factor
A teacher – is learning happening

A salesman – does he need it and can I get him to buy
A good minister – how can I help people today
A bad minister – how much can I get out of his bank account today
A sick person – get me well
A dying person – let me go

A banker – how can I help improve your financial future
A teller – did I give you back the proper amount of change
A grocer clerk – our shelves are well stocked. Come and get it
A retiree – is that all there is – to time, to money, to food
An artist – what can I see that no one else has seen before

I hope you are realizing some of your dreams, hopes and longings, no matter what goes on in your mind.

The Beginning Place

The Beginning Place

Your next beginning is as near as your breath, did you know?  It is in your heart and brain.  I think it’s appropriate that ‘heart’ is mentioned first.  The heart knows things first that sometimes only make it to the brain when acknowledged and toyed with.

So, what is your heart telling you?  Some call this instinct.  Some call it predisposition.

The important thing is this … listen to your heart.  Every one of my beginnings have happened there first.  Every one.

It’s just another chink in this ‘know thyself’ journey.

I Passed It Along

I Passed It Along

I’m at one of my favorite coffee shops doing a bit of writing.  I had a chance to pass it along.

You know IT?

I paid for the coffee for the lady and her baby behind me.  This is not a bragging moment.  No, not at all.

It is a moment to reflect.  She just came over to my table and thanked me.  I said “You weren’t supposed to know.”

We exchanged pleasantries, I engaged with her 11-month old and that was the end.

Except this small but good glow I still have and she’s been gone now for 5 or 10 minutes.

The coffee - $3 bucks.  Her smile and pleasant child more than paid me back.

I’ve had times when others have done this for me.  It is an esteeming and an encouraging moment in time.

I believe that is the way my new friend experienced it as well.
